This is to help establish a bedtime routine. The sooner a bedtime routine is established, the more relaxed a child becomes following a set pattern every night; she will come to appreciate the consistency and predictability. The routine is set by the parent/caregiver. There's the standard bath, brushing her teeth, putting on pyjamas, reading a story, having a cuddle, or playing a quiet game (eg. saying goodnight to favourite toys, people and objects), singing a song. It's important to establish that the bedroom is a nice place to be, not just a place where she's banished at bedtime. Let her know that you will be there to check on her and slowly but surely, she'll fall asleep. It may take time to establish the routine. But keep with it and the results will show.
